Building Green
Zachau has made a commitment to educating our staff and major subcontractors to "Green Practices". We recently hosted a daylong workshop where Fore Solutions provided education on LEED construction standards. Our project managers are all LEED AP. We also encourage clients to take advantage of efficiency incentives provided by Efficiency Maine. Zachau Construction understands that we have the opportunity to play a part in the reduction of carbon emissions and the construction of healthy buildings.Our projects frequently include a combination of various "Green Standards"
- Envelope systems including rigid blue board and blown cellulose or urethane foam
- Triple-glazed windows
- Solar domestic hot water systems
- Recycled siding and exterior trim products
- Energy Star light fixtures and appliances - utilizing rebates
- Use of local materials and suppliers when appropriate
- Waste recycling system for construction debris
- Company car pooling and assignment of personnel with consideration to proximity of jobsite
