Jeff Zachau
President

Upon graduating from the University of Maine with a BS in Accounting and Finance in 1989, Jeff joined his father, Earle, at Zachau Construction.  As president, Jeff maintains complete financial oversight of every project, from pre-construction to completion.  Jeff resides in Freeport and is a board member of WinterKids and the Maine Maritime Museum, and is a corporator at Bath Savings Institution.

BRUCE HILFRANK
LEED AP | VICE PRESIDENT | PROJECT MANAGER

Bruce graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in civil engineering and currently resides in Falmouth.  He has over 35 years of construction experience and joined Zachau construction in 2002.  As a project manager, Bruce has worked on a diverse range of projects.  These include health care, housing, educational, retail, high tech offices, and historic renovations.  He is a past president of Associated Builders and Contractors.

JON PROVOST
LEED AP | VICE PRESIDENT | PROJECT MANAGER

Jon graduated from the University of Maine with a Business Administration degree.  He joined Zachau in 1993, giving him over 25 years of commercial construction experience.  As project manager, Jon has been involved with a diverse portfolio of projects of all sizes.  These include military facilities, new and renovated occupied office space, restaurant and retail spaces, and occupied housing.  He is a past board member of ABC-Maine and resides in Brunswick.

DEREK CONVERSE
LEED AP | DIRECTOR OF PRE-CONSTRUCTION

Derek graduated from the University of Illinois with a Civil Engineering degree and from Purdue University with a Master’s degree in Construction Management.  He has over 25 years of construction experience, the last fifteen in Maine.  Derek resides in Cape Elizabeth and is a board member of the Thomas Memorial Library Foundation and is a LEED AP BD+C.

MARIA BERUBE
VICE PRESIDENT | FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

Maria began at Zachau Construction in 1991 and has been an integral part of the company for over 26 years.  She graduated from Husson College with a BS in Accounting.  Maria is responsible for all aspects of office operation, from payroll to human resources. She currently resides in Lewiston and is an active Notary Public.

CARLENE FASSETT
ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

Carlene received her BS degree in Construction Management from the University of Southern Maine and her AS degree in Building Construction from Southern Maine Technical College.  She has over 18 years of office and field construction experience including carpentry, design, estimating, and retail.  Carlene works closely with the project team assisting project managers with contracts, facilitating day-to-day operations, and in-house Procore management. She currently resides in Auburn, ME.

DON CLOUTIER
SAFETY MANAGER

Don has over 40 years of managing the health and safety on countless construction projects. Don works closely with both the management team as well as employees in the field overseeing and educating both our team as well as all subcontractors on a project. Don works closely with job Superintendents identifying safety requirements as they evolve.

MATTHEW CYR
LEED AP I PROJECT MANAGER

Matthew is a University of Maine graduate with over 16 years of construction industry experience that includes projects performed in high-density areas under tight deadlines.  His extensive Life Sciences projects have included multi-phase renovations of a number of sensitive laboratory spaces located throughout New England.  Matthew serves on the boards of the ACE Mentoring Program and the Susan L. Curtis Foundation.  He resides in New Gloucester.

CHAD MERRITT
LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE | PROJECT MANAGER

Chad earned a BS in Construction Management and an AS in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of Maine.  He has over 19 years of construction experience and specializes in multi-phased renovations/additions, as well as new, ground-up projects with fast-track schedules.  Several of the projects Chad has managed have earned LEED certification, including the LEED Platinum Margaret Chase Federal Building in Bangor.  He currently resides in Standish.
