CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

The Construction Superintendent will lead and manage the on-site construction team.  He/She will work with the Project Manager, to ensure the successful completion of their designated project. The candidate must demonstrate a successful track record of delivering quality projects, built on-time and on budget.  The Superintendent will have a depth of experience interpreting plans and specifications and expert knowledge of construction means and methods.  They will be pro-active problem solvers identifying issues in advance and utilize effective channels and methods of communication to resolve issues.  The Superintendent will be responsible for cleanliness, organization and safety in accordance with company policy and all regulations.  You must be a strong leader, pro-active communicator and perform well under pressure. 

Superintendents must display effective listening and communication skills, initiative, ability to work independently and in teams, and lead by example. He/she must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion, display effective problem-solving skills, and provide excellent customer service.  Additionally, he/she must have the ability to multi-task, maintain composure under pressure, and display a high level of professionalism, integrity, and follow through.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Leading and managing the on-site construction team

  • Effectively facilitate meetings with owners, architect and sub-contractors

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organized site

  • Scheduling Sub-Contractors

  • Coordinating and overseeing all work in accordance with the project plans and specifications

  • Developing effective working relationships with sub-contractors and direct reports

  • Conduct Weekly Sub-Contractor Meetings

  • Create weekly look ahead schedule

  • Developing and managing site specific safety plans, including orientations, HSA’s, toolbox talks and trainings

  • Review of shop-drawings and submittals

  • Following and staying with the budget for the project

  • Discuss possible overages with PM to come up with solutions

  • Coordination of all required field verifications, testing and inspections

  • Ensuring quality standards are met

  • Placing orders for materials, and being responsible for equipment and materials on site

  • Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met

  • Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness and orderliness

  • Maintaining records for site personnel such as daily field reports, field orders and RFIs

  • Document changes and maintain redlined drawings for project close-out

 JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent

  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction divisions, best practices, and appropriate sequencing

  • Proficient with Procore, MS Office Word and Excel

  • Proficient with scheduling software

  • Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications and other documents

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Participate in pre-construction process as required - (Review of schedule, logistics, scope, budget, permitting, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain schedule

  • OSHA 30 (Will provide training)

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
