Winter Landing is a newly constructed 40,630 square foot affordable housing development offering 52 one-bedroom apartments for older adults and individuals with disabilities in Portland, Maine. Part of the larger Mercy Redevelopment project, Winter Landing helps address the growing need for affordable housing while providing residents with convenient access to public transportation, healthcare facilities, grocery stores, and nearby green spaces.

Designed by CWS Architects, the building includes a community lounge and kitchen, on-site laundry facilities, resident services offices, and an outdoor gathering space to encourage community connection. The development also provides housing for individuals and households earning at or below 60% of the area median income.

Completed in Fall 2024, Winter Landing is a fossil fuel-free building designed to meet rigorous Passive House performance standards, emphasizing energy efficiency, sustainability, and long-term resident comfort. Zachau Construction served as Construction Manager-at-Risk for the project.
